Hydraulic Engine Starting Systems and
Motors

IPU’s hydraulic engine starting solutions provide guaranteed reliability for diesel and gas engines up to 80 litres, no matter how challenging or unpredictable the environment. This independent starting solution with dead-ship or black-start capability is ideal as your primary method of starting for emergency generators and for those in hazardous areas with ATEX safety requirements.

IPU’s hydraulic starter motors are robust as they are made from a cast iron construction (left). Your hydraulic starting system can also be delivered without an enclosure (centre) or installed inside one (right).

Providing that the system is installed and maintained to IPU specifications our hydraulic engine starting systems can store their energy indefinitely. Even when discharged, it can be quickly and easily re-charged via a hand pump. Alternatively, hydraulic systems can be equipped with electric motor and/or engine driven recharge pumps and solenoid valves for remote or auto start options.

ATEX-Approved Starter Motors
If you operate an offshore platform or underground mine – or if you supply products to companies that do – ATEX certification means safety. IPU’s ATEX approved hydraulic starter motors are fully compliant with ATEX EN-1834-1 and EN-1834-2 safety standards. Thanks to a cast-iron casing and pre-engaged pinion, they are suitable for use in hazardous environments such as underground mines or oil and gas platforms as there is zero risk of sparks.
